Benidorm is the main holiday resort in the Costa Blanca and offers holidaymakers all the nightlife you could want combined with sandy beaches, numerous bars and restaurants. There is also the Terra Mitica theme park, water parks and a marine life and exotic bird park. Benidorm really has everything most holidaymakers want including the option to stay in a quieter area but still offering access to all the amenities.
If you want things to do during the day there is generally some cycling tours, Nordic walking, horse riding sailing trips and more. Some of these activities will be seasonal so if your holiday depends on doing any particular activity make sure you check that it is available before you book to go.

Altea holidays are popular with holidaymakers as it offers a quieter resort with a more authentic Spanish holiday experience plus access to Benidorm. You can be in Benidorm in less than 20 minutes by car as it is approximately 10km away. A wander up the hill will take you to the Virgen del Consuelo Church plus the opportunity for a coffee and a snack at one of the nearby restaurants in the small square next to the church. Altea is located to the north of Alicante and has grown due to tourism from its earlier roots as a fishing village. Part of the older village has been designated a World Heritage site.
There is a nice promenade to walk a long which also features some restaurants and bars. Altea is approximately 50 minutes drive from Alicante airport (around 72km) The next nearest airport is Valencia which is (around 140km) and approximately 2 hours drive to Altea. If you are visiting in August look out for the fireworks displays for the Fiesta De San Lorenzo especially over Altea’s l’Olla Beach.

Albir is a quiet town located just next to the busy resort of Benidorm. Unlike Benidorm Albir is a more relaxed atmosphere spreads to the beach where things are not as hectic as it’s neighbouring resort of Benidorm. Albir also offers some nice nature walks which is again in huge contrast to the hectic scenes in Benidorm. Albir is another great resort for anyone looking for a quieter holiday with access to the nightlife or change of pace that Benidorm offers when required. The town’s main beach is pebbly however it is still popular and as mentioned before Benidorm and it’s beaches are not far away.

The resort of Calpe offers holidaymakers a nice contrast between the old and the new. Calpe features old Roman remains and historic churches and old quarter to the modern marina. Calpe has two beaches which both run for approximately one mile with lots of bars and restaurants spread out at the more popular areas. The Penon d’Ifach is Calpe’s most notable landmark which has been made a national park.
The climb to the top offers amazing views across the town. On a clear day you should even be able to see the holiday island of Ibiza from the summit if you make it to the top. The tricky climb will reward you with great views definitely worthy of taking your camera for.

Torrevieja offers a more traditional experience than you would get in a busy resort like Benidorm. Torrevieja has a sandy beaches and a busy town centre. The most popular beaches are La Mata and Playa La Cura both generally offering parasols for sunbathing with numerous bars and restaurants nearby. Further away from the town centre and just past the busy marina is the palm trees with the grassy dunes.
Not far from the resort is the pink lake which is a popular attraction with locals and tourists. Due to the high salt content you will float close to the surface, similar to the Dead Sea. You could bathe in the black mud located on the bed of the lake like the locals. They believe that it has therapeutic qualities, certainly worth a souvenir photograph!
Tui Torrevieja Hotels

Javea is a small town between Valencia and Alicante and about 45 minutes drive from Benidorm. There are a number of bars and restaurants in the town centre which surround the medieval church. There are a couple of Blue Flag beaches in the area. La Grava is popular with the locals due to its location which is lined by the promenade and restaurants and bars. Arenal Bay offers a sandy beach unlike La Grava which is pebbly.
The beach at Arenal Bayis generally shallow with water quite far out. Obviously where there are people you will find bars and restaurants. Denia is a small coastal fishing town with a thousand year old castle overlooking it. There are small fishing boats in the harbour which are in contrast to the expensive yachts in the marina. The marina has designer shops and bars and restaurants along the Carrer Marques de Campo which is the main shopping street in Denia. In the main summer months in the evening there are usually stalls selling various goods such as clothing and jewellery.
The street is shaded by trees forming an arch for almost the full length. Obviously worth a visit is Denia castle and archaeological museum which regularly attracts tourist into the town. There are also around twenty kilometres of beach to enjoy which includes large sections of sandy beach as well as more rugged towards the south. The area is a popular destination for scuba divers and has a way-marked dives.
You could also pick up a ferry to the island of Ibiza which takes around three and a half hours to get there. Valencia is approximately 40 minutes drive away and is a great option for a day trip. Denia offers a large number of high end fish restaurants, perfect for a special night out. Tui villa holidays offer a number of villas with pools in the Denia area.

Moraira is another small coastal town to the north of the Costa Blanca region and around 40 km from Benidorm and about 70 km from Alicante. Playa la Ampolla is a Blue Flag sandy beach which is right next to the town. There is another smaller beach next to the marina as well. Both beaches have restaurants and bars nearby for snacks and meals. If you are looking for things to do in the area you could go for a walk in the nearby mountains.
Popular with walkers and offers great views of the coastline so remember to take your camera. In the evenings many of the bars have entertainment from live music to karaoke!
